Second Hand clothes-
Every town sell smart second hand clothes. We just need a relationship with the people who open the Bales and come up with an agreement where you can select the best clothes for re-sale.
I will give an example through experience and a sample from Gikomba.
With Ksh 2,000, you can get Ladies trousers at Ksh 100 each, Dresses goes for Ksh 100 and tops at Ksh 20 to Ksh 50. This will amounts to 10 trousers, 10 Dresses and 10-20 tops. Roughly dresses will cost Ksh 400 and above based on you clients, Trousers will sell at Ksh, 500 and Tops at Ksh 200. Thus the Gross returns would be (400*10+500*10+200*15-2000)=Ksh 10,000 Per Week on the Lower end.

Selling lunch to offices and tea-
Many people leave home early without taking breakfast and this is a great opportunity. One can buy a thermos and go sell tea and mandazi or bread to this offices. You just need to be clean and smart in to create a clientele base and have niche in the market.
Very few offices offer lunch to their employees. The greatest advantage is we have offices where the food available is so expensive, that would mean spending like half of their salaries on food. I remember after internships we had friends working at uperhill and westlands and they would tell us how it was a challenge to get affordable foods.
Example 1- Food Business
We will break down the mathematics behind starting a small business of supplying food to offices.
The Budget and Expected returns are as follows
From the illustration, the least one can make per day is Ksh 1,000 if you have 10 clients. Your main initiative would be walking to companies and coming up with an agreement to be supplying them with food especially in Westlands and Upperhill. The most effective way is targeting offices close to you for ease of operation as a start-up.
The above are just an illustration to show how one can start a small business and earn something. The other businesses that one can venture into include;
• Beauty products and jewelries
Dubois and River road are known for jewelry and beauty products, but not everybody has the time to go there. Buy them and sell them to such people.
This goes for between Ksh 100 and 130 wholesale. If you sell at cost above Ksh 200, that would be a worthwhile investment
Fruits are readily available at varying prices. Establishing a niche and knowing how to reach clientele can turn out to be worthy investments for start-ups.
