‘’Opportunities do not happen, you create them.”
Making the first step
After the education journey is over, it is everyone’s anticipation to get that dream job. To most graduates the script is different, they end up searching for jobs for a couple of months or even years searching for a job. It is obviously normal to be anxious as a result of the unemployment. Whether you have rented your house or you live at home the feeling is still the same. In this state you are dealing with terms of identity and this is truly drilling and upsetting. This gets worse when the greatest percentage of your friend gets employed and you still there. Trust me most of them will on most cases post their pictures in their posh offices or at the most prestigious places; others will even cut the ties you had with them. Need not to worry as you did nothing wrong it is only that everything happens for a reason and at the best appointed time of God.
Trying to fit in after campus can be really difficult, my advice to you is not to just sit in your house or bedrooms just trying to shutter yourself away from the real world. This would not actually be of any help to you. It doesn’t matter the situation you are in. just staying connected to the real world is crucial rather than overthinking and overwhelming yourself with negative thoughts,
One thing you should realize is that you are not alone, others have that period and many more will be in your predicament. Trying to learn from those who were before you would be crucial in making you understand how to blend in and make that money that most people are after in employment. They say a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step, my take is that it start by taking an initiative and having a positive attitude. It will come in a long way towards making you lead a successful life.
I have observed that in most cases many graduates will drill themselves and spend beyond their abilities just to fit in a certain class their friends are at the moment. However I believe no excuse is justified reason in spending beyond your personal capabilities. It is always advisable to stick to owns budget so that you are not surviving on credit. Another crucial step is about confronting the future, which is better if done sooner than later. Take you time to do a bit of self-reflection as at some point one may be temporary indecisive which is quite normal. Stop being comfortable in that rut as you are killing yourself, While finding a job does take quite some as this not a science which is all proved facts.
The worst mistake that one can ever make is giving up. No matter the number of interviews you have attended or the number of application you have sent. You need to keep trying, a good masters said one keeps getting better with the number of tries he/she makes.
From WEAC, we have to leave you with a wise quote….“It is not that we have so little time but that we lose so much. … The life we receive is not short but we make it so; we are not ill provided but use what we have wastefully.”
